Monday, June 4th, 1962: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Sub League 1, but last week Dick Simpson of the Glendale Boll Weevils reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Simpson rocked opposing pitching for a .391 average (9-23), 2 home runs and 10 RBIs to come away with the award.
This season Simpson is batting .368 with 71 hits, 9 home runs, 34 RBIs, .424 OBP and has scored 31 runs.
